John Tummins possessed a deep love for family, his fellow man, and learning. His unselfish nature and generous spirit led him to help others throughout his life. Since he was born in Polk County, Tennessee and lived most of his life in Bradley County with a career in highway construction, it is fitting that his legacy includes helping those from these areas study engineering.
Edward Taylor is a graduate of the College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He created the John Tummins Memorial Endowed Scholarship to honor the memory of his friend and colleague, John Tummins.
